Over the last few weeks the weather has warmed up, and although the river has been low, Sea Trout have begun to show in the lower and middle reaches. Double figure fish have been taken by the Coracle netsmen, who are still allowed to operate below Llechryd bridge and down to the upper estuary. The biggest Sea Trout caught by them weighed a massive 18lb 12oz.
Further up river, including our own private waters, good fish have been hooked and lost, possibly due to the soft mouths that Sea trout have when they first enter the river system. One of the reasons why many Sewin anglers fish flies with a trailing treble.
Looking forward over the next few weeks, all is set well for many more fish to start moving up river and if a small up and down rise and fall in the river levels happens, it could give us a good population of fish in most of the pools.............. and, dare I say it,........A good Seatrout season ! ....... Come and join us
Well done to Mike Evans, our head guide, who caught and returned a massive 14lb Sea Trout
from our own waters at Coedstre!!
